Post 51 of Oakland used a victory over Motor City on Monday night to clinch first place in the American Legion Zone 1 baseball standings.

Post 51 finished with a 14-4 record, one game ahead of second-place Bangor and third-place Brewer, each 13-5. Bangor won the tiebreaker — and the second first-round bye for the Zone 1 tourney that begins Wednesday — by the Mealey point system based on the win totals of opponents defeated by a team during the regular season.

R.H. Foster of Hampden finished fourth at 12-6, with Trenton (11-7) and Motor City of Orono (10-8) earning the final two playoff berths.

Coffee News-Bangor 13, Penquis 1

At Mansfield Stadium, Ryan Brookings had three hits and four RBIs to lead Coffee News to victory. Johnny Cote and Andrew Hillier had two hits and an RBI each.

Hillier picked up the pitching win with four shutout innings and Brian Pierce earned the save with three innings of relief.

Brooks Law had two doubles for Penquis while Zach Hagan contributed an RBI single. Chandler Rockwell, Nick Hagan and Tim Mazzeo each singled for the Navigators.

At Waldoboro, Michael Turner scattered five hits and one earned run over five innings to earn the pitching win with relief help from Billy Campbell.

Turner also doubled and singled while Tommy Farrar homered and drove home two runs, Jordan Dysart singled twice and Nick Guerrette tripled for the winners.

Connor Graffam pitched well in defeat for Midcoast-Rockland, yielding three earned runs on seven hits over six innings with seven strikeouts.

Oliver Brown homered and singled for Midcoast while John Hall singled twice and Mazlin Higbee and Michael Wolff each doubled.

Motor City 11, Brewer 3

At Heddercig Field in Brewer Sunday, Tommy Burns pitched a complete nine-inning game to lead Motor City past the Falcons.

Burns scattered six hits and three walks while striking out three. He added two singles and three RBIs.

Jackson Coutts also had three RBIs for Motor City on two singles and a double. Cody Collins added a triple, two doubles, a single and an RBI while Ethan Stoddard had a double, single and an RBI.

Matt Pushard doubled, singled and drove in two runs for Brewer.

At Brewer Saturday, Dylan Soper’s two-out double in the eighth scored Alex Maxsimic to give the Falcons the win.

Maxsimic also earned the pitching win with three scoreless innings of relief, allowing one hit while not walking a batter and striking out three.

Carter DeRedin and Matt Pushard each recorded two singles and an RBI to lead the Falcons. Alex Brooks added a single and an RBI and Logan Rogerson doubled. Pushard also earned a save.

Tom Paola and Will Ricker each doubled for the Acadians while Tony Bianco added a single and an RBI.
