OLD TOWN, Maine — A traffic stop on College Avenue early Thursday led to the arrest of a local man on a drug charge after police allegedly found methamphetamine in his car.
Patrick Pascal, 22, of Old Town was charged with unlawful possession of scheduled drugs, a Class C crime, according to Old Town police.
Pascal was stopped for allegedly speeding just after midnight. Officer John McEwen searched the vehicle because he reportedly smelled marijuana and Pascal did not have a medical marijuana card, according to a news release issued late Thursday by Capt. Lee Miller.
During the search, McEwen found a sunglasses case in the center console, in which he allegedly found about 8 grams of methamphetamine, with an estimated street value of $1,600. Underneath the case, the officer found approximately $460 in cash, police said.
If convicted, Pascal faces up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000.
