HAMPDEN, Maine — The community will have an opportunity to wish retiring Town Manager Susan Lessard well during a daylong open house at the town office Thursday, Aug. 27.

Lessard announced in March her plan to leave the post she has held for almost 15 years.

Before coming to Hampden in late 2000, Lessard served as town manager for Vinalhaven from 1993 to 2000.

She also has served as town clerk for Searsport, town manager for Livermore Falls and Fayette and finance director for Southwest Harbor, as well as a consultant for Maine Tomorrow, a consulting group that merged with Eaton Peabody in 2011.

Lessard’s successor, Angus Jennings, will start work Monday.

Before signing a three-year contract with Hampden, Jennings owned A.G. Jennings Consulting Firm, a planning, zoning and real estate consulting firm based in Concord, Massachusetts. He is the former director of land use planning for Westford, Massachusetts, and town planner for Marshfield, Massachusetts.

He told Hampden officials last month that he was in the process of phasing out the business.
