Fans can meet the 2015-2016 University of Maine men’s ice hockey team at LobsterFest, an event sponsored by The Friends of Maine Hockey.
It will be held on Sept. 27 at McLaughlin’s at the Marina, 100 Marina Road in Hampden. A social hour starts at 2 p.m. and a traditional Maine lobster bake dinner will be served at 3.
There will also be a raffle featuring prizes that include: Lobster Dinner Gift Basket complete with fresh lobster, a car detailing package, a one-of-a-kind UMaine Hockey jacket, and a game in the FOMH skybox.
Reservations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis for $60 per person. Reservation forms are available online at goblackbears.com, facebook.com/FriendsOfMaineHockey, at the UMaine Hockey office and at McLaughlin’s.

‘Meet the Bears’ football clinic set
ORONO — The University of Maine football team will host its annual ‘Meet the Black Bears’ Free Football Clinic on Wednesday, Aug. 26, beginning at 6 p.m. at Alfond Stadium.
All ages are welcome and participants will have the opportunity to meet players and coaches, get free posters and autographs, and take part in a free pizza party with the team, sponsored by Domino.

Dube-Trempe recognized
ORONO — UMaine women’s soccer goalkeeper Claudia Dube-Trempe has been named to the New England Soccer Journal Watch List.
In 2014, Dube-Trempe was named the America East Goalkeeper of the year, and was a member of the America East first team. She started 15 games and recorded seven shutouts.
She was third in America East in goals against average, save percentage and shutouts and was a Maine Scholar Athlete award winner.
Women’s soccer opens its season Friday at 7 p.m. in Orono against Fairfield.
UNE promotes Smyth
BIDDEFORD — Curt Smyth has been promoted to Senior Associate Director of Athletics at New England College.
Smyth has been part at UNE as part of the athletics staff since 1997, serving in multiple coaching capacities over the first 10 years before shifting to administration for the last eight. For the duration, he has held the title of Sports Information Director, and will continue to fill that role.
UNE also promoted 15-year employee Joan Howard to Associate Director of Athletics.
Smyth stepped away from coaching in 2007, after a decade guiding the women’s basketball team to 142 wins and the program’s Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship in 2001. He was also the head softball coach in 1999 and coached the men’s golf team from 2003-04.
He is a member of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Rules Committee, a four-year appointment that will end with the 2015-16 season.
Bowdoin hires Lozzi
BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin College has announced the hiring of 2012 graduate Dominique Lozzi as assistant coach for the women’s ice hockey team.
Lozzi will return to Brunswick after a three-year stint as an assistant coach at Trinity (Connecticut) where she helped lead the Bantams to a NESCAC Championship and NCAA tournament appearance in 2015.
A decorated member of the women’s ice hockey team at Bowdoin from 2008-2012, Lozzi earned NESCAC Rookie of the Year honors as a first-year and served as team captain her senior campaign. She played in 101 games as a Polar Bear, totaling 37 goals, 48 assists and 85 points in her career.
She graduated Bowdoin with a degree in Government & Legal Studies and earned her Master’s Degree in Public Policy from Trinity in 2014.
