LINCOLNVILLE, Maine — With the help of the town’s harbormaster and local fishermen, members of the Lincolnville Fire Department extinguished a fire that destroyed a resident’s boat, Lincolnville fire Chief Ben Hazen said Monday.

The fire began about 4 p.m., Hazen said. He said the boat’s owner, Tom Crowley, had been out on the boat with his son and grandson when the fire began. He said the boat was towed away from shore to prevent the fire from damaging nearby fishing boats.

Firefighters were taken to the fire in Harbormaster Mike Hutchins’ boat, Hazen said. Fishermen who were in the area helped put the fire out, he said.

Hazen said no one was injured by the fire.
