People are invariably bad at assessing risk. You probably know that the likelihood of dying in an airplane is far less than the likelihood while driving a car. Yet are your worry levels higher in a car? Probably not.
What about more risky activities? Are you more likely to be killed while boxing than while scuba diving? (Yes.) Are you more likely to die sky diving than hang gliding? (No.)
