DEXTER, Maine — A 69-year-old Corinna man was found dead Thursday afternoon in Lake Wassookeag, according to the Maine Warden Service.

Officials believe Gerry Marshall had gone out onto the lake with his Jet Ski to retrieve a pontoon boat that had drifted away from his camp, Cpl. John MacDonald, spokesman for the warden service, reported in a press release early Thursday evening.

Workers doing construction on Marshall’s camp noticed a short while later that Marshall, who was wearing a life vest, was floating in the water.

The workers brought Marshal to shore where they and first responders from Dexter EMS unsuccessfully tried to revive him, MacDonald said. Marshall was pronounced dead at the scene.

The case remains under investigation, and Marshall’s body will be examined by the medical examiner’s office to determine cause of death.
