LIMERICK, Maine — A set of grainy surveillance camera images of people burglarizing an apple orchard in July were put on the York County Sheriff’s Department’s Facebook page and led to charges against two men, according to York County Sheriff William King.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to the burglary at the Libby and Sons Apple Orchard in Limerick on July 27, the sheriff said in a press release Saturday. They processed the scene for evidence and gathered the video surveillance from the farm that shows two men on the property, one holding his hand over his face. A tracking dog also was requested from the Maine State Police but was unable to track the criminals, King said. Details about what was taken were not released.
“The grainy pictures were put on our York County Facebook account and a tipster identified the suspects as Ethan Gerry, 20, of Limerick and Anthony Palmitessa, 22, also of Limerick,” the sheriff said. “Deputies matched Gerry and Palmitessa with the photographs and reviewed the forensic evidence discovered at the scene.”
Both men were charged with burglary last week, King said in the email. Palmitessa is scheduled to appear in Alfred Superior Court on Dec. 7 and Gerry is scheduled to appear in Springvale District Court on Jan. 26.
