BRUNSWICK, Maine — A 33-year-old Brunswick woman, whose parents reported her missing, called Brunswick police at 3 p.m. Wednesday to say she and her 5-year-old son are “safe and sound.”

Sarah Walker-Meade of Range Road and her son, Joseph Katula, were reported missing by Walker-Meade’s parents Tuesday morning. Another family member said they last saw Walker-Meade on Saturday evening outside her home.

Walker-Meade’s blue 1999 Volvo, with Maine registration 1637SZ, also was reported missing.

At about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, police in Westford, Massachusetts, reported to Brunswick police that a car fitting that description with matching plates had been spotted in nearby Littleton, traveling toward Westford, but police were unable to locate the car.

Police publicized the search Wednesday morning.

Walker-Meade called Brunswick police Wednesday afternoon to say she and her son were visiting her former boyfriend, according to police Cmdr. Marc Hagan. Hagan said Walker-Meade declined to tell police where she is.

Hagan said Walker-Meade’s name has been entered into the National Crime Information Center database, and the investigation won’t end “until someone has contact with her.”
