BRISTOL, Maine — A medical problem caused a Hampden man to drive his car off the road in Bristol on Friday morning.
David Downes, 47, of Hampden was operating his 2015 Hyundai Accent southbound on Bristol Road (Route 130) when he suffered a medical problem, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Brian Collamore said.
Downes drove off the road and into a small embankment before the car came to a rest against a tree. Downes was wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident and the air bags in the vehicle deployed, Collamore said.
CLC Ambulance Service took Downes to LincolnHealth-Miles Campus.
Bristol Fire and Rescue also went to the scene and assisted with traffic control.
