ELLSWORTH, MAINE — A Bronx man was charged with felony drug offenses Thursday evening as part of an investigation by agents assigned to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency’s Down East Task Force, Cmdr. Peter Arno said in a news release.
Arno said that investigators believe that Kervin Castillo, 22, was on his way to Hancock County to sell crack cocaine. The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $6,000.
As a result of information gathered recently, MDEA investigators said they were able to establish that a person from the Bronx would be traveling by bus to the Bangor area.
Late Thursday afternoon, agents approached Castillo after he got off a Greyhound bus. A search of Castillo resulted in the discovery of approximately 41 grams of cocaine base, also known as crack, according to authorities.
Castillo was arrested and charged with Class B trafficking in scheduled drugs.
MDEA was assisted in the investigation by the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation is continuing and more arrests are possible.
