WASHINGTON — All-American Meats Inc. is recalling approximately 167,427 pounds of ground beef products that may contain E. coli, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced Monday.

The potential contamination was discovered on Oct. 30, but so far there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions from consumption of the ground beef products produced by the Nebraska-based company.

E. coli is a potentially deadly bacterium that can cause dehydration, cramps and bloody diarrhea within two to eight days after exposure to contaminated food.

Consumers who have purchased ground beef products, such as ground beef round and ground beef chuck, are encourage to throw them away or return them to the store where they were purchased.
