ROCKLAND, Maine — A woman who was paid commissions for advertisements she never sold was sentenced Friday to five months in jail.
Tracey L. Gossell, formerly Tracey Neff, 48, of Acworth, Georgia, was sentenced in Knox County Unified Court for theft. A forgery charge was dismissed.
According to court records, Gossell was paid $10,000 in commissions for ads that she claimed to have sold from April through November 2012 for various publications, including Travel Maine, Pet Maine, Downeast Dog News and Dining Guide.
Then RFB Advertising LLC of Rockland learned that she had not sold the ads, according to court records.
Gossell originally was charged in January and has been free on bail. Gossell has repaid all the money she received, according to Assistant District Attorney Christopher Fernald.
She will begin serving her sentence Feb. 15.
