BIDDEFORD, Maine — A Bronx, New York, man was arrested on Monday in connection with selling heroin in the Biddeford area, Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said.
Anicet Kondombo, 27, a native of West Africa, was charged with aggravated trafficking in heroin.
He had been traveling from New York to Portland, McCausland said, and was subsequently arrested after getting off a Concord Coach Lines bus about 8:15 p.m. in Portland.
About 13 grams of heroin prepackaged for resale were allegedly found on him, valued at $2,100.
Kondombo has been under investigation since June since his Biddeford apartment was searched, McCausland said. About 4.8 grams of heroin were seized at the apartment over the summer, and those drugs are valued at $3,700, he said.
Kondombo came to the U.S. in 2011 on a student visa, which is now expired, and he is considered as an “over stay” status with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Biddeford, Kennebunk, South Portland police and the U.S. Marshal’s service assisted state police.
Kondombo is being held at the Cumberland County Jail on $100,000 bail.
