WARREN, Maine — Wes Richardson, who was swept into office 10 months ago with a write-in campaign that unseated an incumbent chairman, has resigned his selectman post.
Richardson said he was leaving because of a disagreement over goals and philosophies with the other board members and the town manager.
Richardson waged a write-in campaign in March against incumbent board member Michael York, who was completing his first 3-year term. Richardson received 344 write-in votes compared with 115 votes for York, who was on the ballot.
Richardson had represented the Warren-area Maine House district from 2004 to 2012.
He said Wednesday that he has become frustrated with the lack of information given to the board when it makes decisions. He also cited his dissatisfaction with the lack of progress on revisions to the town’s personnel policy.
Chairman Arnold Hill said Richardson was a good selectman who worked for the best interests of the town. He had no other comment on the resignation.
Richardson submitted a resignation letter to the town on Tuesday, stating he was done effective Wednesday. The remaining four selectmen met Wednesday night and accepted the resignation.
The seat will remain vacant until the next election in June.
