GRAY, Maine — A transient faces several charges after police say he broke into a Gray home early Saturday morning and assaulted the homeowner, reports Portland television station WGME, CBS 13.
Randy Peterson, 28, was arrested Saturday, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, and faces robbery, theft and assault charges. He also has three outstanding arrest warrants, authorities said.
Around 6 a.m. Saturday, police received a report that a couple at 9 Taylor Lane found a man in their kitchen. After being confronted, police said, the suspect assaulted one of the homeowners and ran off. The homeowner suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
Police searched for hours and finally found the suspect at another residence in Gray.
Peterson is being held at the Cumberland County Jail without bail.
