WISCASSET, Maine — An Edgecomb man whose car caused a collision Friday night on Bath Road has been charged with operating under the influence after police say his blood alcohol level was more than three times Maine’s legal limit for operating a vehicle.
Scott Lane, 49, is scheduled to appear in Wiscasset District Court on April 28 to face the charge, according to a press release from Wiscasset Police Department.
Lane’s blood alcohol content after the crash was 0.28, more than three times the state’s legal limit of 0.08 for operating a vehicle, police said.
At about 8 p.m. Friday, officers went to Bath Road in the area of the Lil’ Mart after a gray 2004 Saturn allegedly driven by Lane attempted to make a left turn into the Lil’ Mart parking lot, apparently failing to yield the right of way to a green 2002 Subaru driven by 19-year-old Daniel Dugay of Boothbay.
Dugay attempted to avoid Lane’s car, but Lane’s car struck Dugay’s Subaru and caused it to swerve onto the lawn in front of the Lil’ Mart.
Dugay was uninjured. Lane was taken to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick and evaluated for injuries, according to the release. Wiscasset police then took him to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset to administer a breath test.
