BANGOR, Maine — Edible Arrangements, a national franchise business that creates and delivers bouquets of fresh-cut fruit, now has a store in Bangor.

Bangor brothers and businessmen Matthew and Patrick Brann, who also own Half Acre Nightclub, opened the franchise location in a strip mall at 570 Stillwater Avenue on March 4.

“It’s kind of night and day,” Matthew Brann said Wednesday of his latest business venture. “I was looking for an investment, and this sort of fell in my lap.”

Matthew Brann said he started to research what was involved in launching an Edible Arrangements location after he saw a friend log on to the company’s website to order an arrangement for a relative. That was about six to eight months ago, he said.

The duo plan to open a second location in Augusta sometime around November. That would be Maine’s fourth Edible Arrangements location. The other two are in Brunswick and South Portland.

In addition to preparing arrangements ordered online for pickup or delivery, the store also sells to-go items ranging from smoothies and yogurt to chocolate-dipped fruit. Any items ordered in the Bangor area will be cut and prepared at the Bangor store, Matthew Brann said.

“Not every Edible Arrangements location does that,” he added.

The stores do most of their business preparing and delivering arrangements around the country for people who want to recognize a holiday or achievement, or send sympathies after a loss.
