PORTLAND, Maine — An altercation at a city nightclub apparently led to a stabbing at a Brighton Avenue Denny’s early Thursday, police said.

The victim is a 31-year-old man from Veazie, who was stabbed in the parking lot of the diner, according to a Portland police statement.

Two groups of people had been separated by staff at PT’s Showclub on Riverside Street and subsequently left. The statement said the group met again in the Denny’s parking lot, where the stabbing occurred.

Police want to speak with two male suspects, who are African-American, stand 5 feet, 9 inches tall and have short hair.

The victim is in stable condition at Maine Medical Center. The incident remains under investigation.
