BELFAST, Maine — Five people accused of making methamphetamine in their homes in Northport and Belfast were indicted last week by the Waldo County grand jury.

The charges stem from two March drug busts, one in Northport and one in Belfast. Three people were indicted in connection with the lab on High Street in Belfast, including a mother whose child was in the home where the meth allegedly was being made. After a months-long investigation, agents from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency raided the home on March 21, seizing about 2 grams of the drug and arresting two men.

One week later, agents arrested a Northport couple and charged them with operating a methamphetamine lab in their Route 1 apartment. James Arthur Scheider, 40, and Stacey Scheider, 37, who in March was identified by police as Stacey Dykes, were on probation as part of a sentence they received for trafficking in meth in October 2014 at their previous residence in Bath. Before the raid, Belfast police and MDEA agents had received information that the couple had moved to Northport and resumed their manufacturing operation there.

In both Belfast and Northport, members of the MDEA’s clandestine laboratory enforcement team were called in to handle the evidence because of the extremely dangerous nature of the ingredients and the manufacturing process.

In connection with the Belfast raid, Krystyl Robbins, 23, of Belfast, whose child was at the home, was indicted by the grand jury last week on charges of aggravated operation of a methamphetamine laboratory, unlawful trafficking in meth and unlawful possession of meth.

Edward Mylen III, 36, of Belfast, who has a prior drug conviction, was charged with aggravated trafficking in meth and unlawful operation of a meth lab.

Michael J. Redding, 27, of Belfast, was indicted on charges of unlawful operation of a meth lab and unlawful trafficking of meth.
