ORLAND, Maine — A garage on Briar Brook Road was leveled by a fire Monday morning, according to town fire officials.

Crews from Orland, Bucksport and Penobscot were dispatched around 9:30 a.m., according to a posting on the Orland Fire Department’s Facebook page.

The post said smoke was spotted from “quite a distance” as crews responded.

The garage and its contents were destroyed, and while a nearby residence and another outbuilding had minor heat damage, those structures were spared any major fire damage.

The state fire marshal’s office responded to the scene as well, but the damage is so severe that a cause will not be able to be determined.

Surry’s fire department covered Orland’s station.
