BANGOR, Maine — A fight that broke out near the Paul Bunyan statue was not related to the Donald Trump rally, a Bangor police official said Wednesday afternoon.
The incident happened about 4:40 p.m., while the Republican presidential hopeful was speaking to supporters inside the nearby Cross Insurance Center.
“It was some of our locals,” Bangor police Lt. Cathy Rumsey said.
Because the police report had not yet been submitted, she did not know what triggered the scuffle.
“When it was called in, the people were very specific that it was not anybody connected to the event over there,” she said.
