A storage garage fire at the Presque Isle Country Club on July 1 badly damaged golf carts, equipment and two cars, but no one was injured.
The Presque Isle Fire Department arrived at the garage about 3 p.m. and had it extinguished within 10 minutes, Fire Chief Darrell White said Tuesday.
Although the fire is still under investigation, White said it appeared to start along a wall in the garage, which housed 28 golf carts, a Kubota tractor and a boat. All of those carts and equipment were deemed destroyed, along with two cars that were parked near the garage.
No one was injured, and the clubhouse, course and rest of the property were unaffected, according to club manager Barry Madore.
Of the 28 carts lost in the blaze, 13 were owned by the club and the rest by members.
Madore said the club still has 25 carts to rent and noted that the course remains open and drew a range of golfers during the good weather over the long Independence Day weekend.
