BANGOR, Maine — A 23-year-old Milford man who last year waived indictment and pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography was sentenced Thursday in U.S. District Court to 10 years in federal prison.

By pleading guilty, Anthony Parent admitted that he possessed and traded child pornography between October 2013 and July 2014 and that the images included depictions of prepubescent children.

In addition to prison time, Parent was sentenced to 10 years of supervised release. He also was ordered to pay $7,000 in restitution to victims depicted in the images for counseling.

Parent had been held without bail since Oct. 30, 2015, when he entered his guilty plea.

How Parent came to the attention of law enforcement is not outlined in court documents.

Parent faced up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
