BANGOR, Maine — More than 100 people gathered outside the Bangor police station Wednesday morning to show support for area law enforcement and emergency response personnel.
The event, called Lift Up The Blue, was organized by Hampden resident Marion Syversen and included a prayer offered for officers and first responders around the region.
“One person can make a difference,” she said.
Syversen organized the show of support via social media in the wake of police being attacked in Dallas and Baton Rouge.
Syversen encouraged the crowd to post their photos of the event on Facebook and “show the community the support that we are giving to their people. A regional show [of support] matters and will make a stronger impact.”
Bangor police Chief Mark Hathaway and other officers thanked the crowd for the demonstration of support and caring.
