PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Maine State Police and the local Police Department are investigating the death of an 86-year-old man in Presque Isle as a homicide.

Leo Corriveau was found dead in his mobile home on Route 1 by relatives Saturday afternoon, and authorities have been looking into the death ever since, according to a news release by the Maine State Police.

An autopsy performed Sunday by the state medical examiner’s office in Augusta concluded that Corriveau’s death was a homicide, though details about the cause of death were not being released, according to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.

Corriveau lived alone at his home in the southern area of Presque Isle, McCausland said.

McCausland added that a team of state police detectives and technicians investigated the scene Sunday and were expected to be there Monday.

At a press conference Monday afternoon, Maine State Police Lt. Troy Gardner said police had contacted the victim’s family, but he declined to release further details about the death.
