BANGOR, Maine — The city’s police department will be hosting its fourth annual National Night Out next week, Sgt. Tim Cotton announced Friday.
The 2016 event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Stillwater Park off Howard Street, Cotton said.
National Night Out is a unique crime and drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch.
More than 15,000 communities in all 50 states and Canada and military bases worldwide participate every year.
The free public safety event is designed to serve the city’s children and families.
Activities will include an inflatable obstacle course provided by Taylor Rental, a dog demonstration performed by Bangor police, a robot demonstration by the department’s bomb squad, food, iris scans by the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office and appearances by Bangor firefighters and firetrucks.
