BANGOR, Maine — Officials from the Bangor Fire Department and the Maine fire marshal’s office were working Sunday to determine the cause of a fire that broke out early that morning in a vacant house on Center Street.

City fire crews were called to 71-73 Center St. around 5 a.m. Sunday, according to Assistant Chief Dennis Nadeau.

Nadeau said that firefighters contained the fire to the living room area, where it began. But there was some damage up to the third story when fire traveled through a duct.

The building had been placarded, and no one was residing there, Nadeau said.

According to the placard and notice that the city of Bangor posted at the address, the building was condemned on April 22 of this year. The owner of record is Kateryna V. Clark, according to the notice.

No one was injured in connection with the fire, and it remained under investigation Sunday afternoon.
