A face from the silver screen will act as surrogate for Hillary Clinton on Tuesday in Orono and Bangor.

Actor Sean Astin will host organizing meetings, including touting Clinton’s agenda and registering voters at the University of Maine. The visit is part of Clinton’s pledge to register 3 million new voters across America by Election Day.

Who is Astin? You know him: He was Mikey in “The Goonies,” Samwise Gamgee in the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy and the title character in “Rudy.” Here are his scheduled appearances:

  • “Hillary for Maine Voter Registration Drive with Sean Astin,” 2:30-3:30 p.m., University of Maine at Orono, 168 College Avenue, Orono.
  • “Meet and Greet with Sean Astin,” 4 p.m. to 4:45 p.m., The Briar Patch, 27 Central Street, Bangor.
  • “Hillary for Maine Phone Bank with Sean Astin,” 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Hillary for Maine Field Office, 1 Springer Drive, Bangor.

Early voting in Maine begins Oct. 9.
