PORTLAND, Maine — Commercial Street was shut down for about three hours early Wednesday morning due to a fatal car crash.
It happened just before 2 a.m., when Portland police say a car hit a utility pole near the Casco Bay Bridge on Commercial Street near Beach Street.
Police later identified the victim as Rachel Schwartz, 30, of Old Orchard Beach.
Commercial Street was closed in both directions from the bridge entrance to High Street. It reopened just after 5 a.m.
