DAMARISCOTTA, Maine — Police on Tuesday identified a Boothbay man as the person who died Monday morning in a tractor-trailer crash on Route 1 near Main Street.
Shannon Gilbert, 76, died on impact in the crash, which occurred just before 9:45 a.m., Damariscotta police Chief Ron Young said Tuesday.
The driver of the other vehicle, Jason Spear, 45, of Rockport, was uninjured.
Gilbert was traveling south on Route 1 in a 2007 GMC 1500 and Spear was traveling north on Route 1 in a 2005 Peterbilt tractor-trailer when the two vehicles collided, Young said.
The crash is being reconstructed by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. The Maine State Police Commercial Vehicle Division also is investigating.
The Damariscotta Fire Department and Central Lincoln Ambulance Service also went to the scene, Young said.
