John Farrell directed the Boston Red Sox to the World Series championship in 2013 and guided the ballclub to the American League East pennant last season.

Next month, the Red Sox manager will share his experiences from the dugout when he makes an appearance in Bangor.

Townsquare Media and 92.9 FM The Ticket radio will be the hosts of the evening with Farrell, which is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 18, at Gracie Theater on the campus of Husson University.

Farrell will appear for a meet and greet and then will field questions from the audience during a hot stove baseball session.

Tickets for Farrell’s appearance, which will run from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., are $30 for general admission and $100 for the VIP experience. They are available by going to this website.

The appearance by an active Red Sox manager is believed to be a first for Bangor area sports fans. Townsquare previously has brought now-former Red Sox players David Ross and Travis Shaw, along with Boston catcher Blake Swihart, to Bangor for similar programs.

Farrell, 54, is gearing up for his fifth season as the Red Sox manager. This year, he steered Boston to a 93-69 record and the division title before it lost to Cleveland in the American League Divisional Series.

He owns a 339-309 (.523) overall mark with the organization. That includes a 2013 season, his first in Boston, when he directed the Red Sox to a 97-65 record and the World Series title.

Farrell missed the final two months of the 2015 season after he was diagnosed with Stage 1 non-Hodgkin’s Burkitt lymphoma. He announced later that year that his cancer was in remission.

Farrell’s future appeared to be somewhat in doubt after the Red Sox finished last in the AL East in 2014 and 2015. However, after Boston’s strong finish in 2016, the organization announced recently that it had picked up his 2018 contract option.

Farrell is likely to get asked about the Red Sox’s recent moves in the wake of the retirement of slugger David Ortiz. Boston traded away two of its top prospects, infielder Yoan Moncada and hard-throwing pitcher Michael Kopech, in exchange for White Sox pitcher Chris Sale.

The date of Farrell’s appearance in Bangor will be 28 days before he welcomes pitchers and catchers to spring training in Fort Myers, Florida.

Farrell, who managed the Toronto Blue Jays in 2011 and 2012, owns a 493-479 career record in the major leagues.

Tickets to the event went on sale at 9 a.m. Wednesday morning at 929theticket.com
