PORTLAND, Maine — Three people were arrested at an apartment complex Sunday morning as police executed a search warrant in connection with a violent crime that occurred Saturday night in South Portland.

The arrests stem from a 911 call police in South Portland received Saturday. On callback, a male said that police were needed at a motel on Main Street.

When they arrived, South Portland police found bystanders attempting to assist a female victim who was badly beaten and bleeding. Her room had been trashed and a car she had been using had been stolen by one of the suspects when they fled the scene, South Portland police said Sunday.

The stolen vehicle was located on Riverton Drive in Portland and the investigation led to a separate address in Wellesley Estates in Portland.

The initial investigation led to the identification of all three suspects, a male and two females, some of whom were known to the victim.

The Portland Police Department’s Special Reaction Team and Crisis Negotiation Team assisted South Portland police as they executed a search warrant at 102 Wellesley Estates near Riverside Street, Portland police Maj. James Sweatt said.

Arrested were Nicole Haycock, 28, Aria Pomerleau, 21, and Benjamin L. Martineau, 27.

All three are charged with burglary, robbery and aggravated assault.

Haycock was additionally charged with violation of probation and an outstanding warrant and Martineau with unauthorized use of property and violation of probation.

The people who were arrested in connection with the incident initially refused to cooperate with police Sunday morning.

No injuries were reported during the execution of the search warrant.
