Husson University has a new women’s lacrosse coach.

Dorian Gilmartin-Dzitko, who has coached the sport at the club level the last two seasons, was named the school‘s fifth head coach Tuesday.

“I am extremely grateful to be named the head women’s lacrosse coach at Husson University. I’d like to thank [athletic director] Frank Pergolizzi for the opportunity to take this program to the next level in the North Atlantic Conference,” said Gilmartin-Dzitko in a statement. “Husson is a great academic institution and is already known for its athletic achievements. I look forward to creating an environment where each student-athlete learns something new each day.”

Gilmartin-Dzitko played lacrosse at the University of Connecticut and was a four-year letterwinner. She led the team to an NCAA Tournament appearance, the first in school history, as a senior.

“We are pleased to have Dorian assume the reins of our women’s lacrosse program,” said Pergolizzi. “Dorian’s experience as a player at the Division I level and a coach at the Division III level gives her an outstanding background that will benefit our student-athletes. We look forward to working with her.”

In addition to coaching at the club level, GIlmartin-Dzitko also was an assistant coach at Drew University in New Jersey the last two seasons.

She also has been director of operations and head coach at the Ultimate Girls Lacrosse Club and coached at Hillsborough High School in New Jersey from 2014 to 2016.
