PORTLAND – Emotions were running very high outside Cumberland County Court, as new details were revealed about a deadly hit-and-run in Westbrook.
The police report for 32-year-old Natasha Field outlines the hit-and-run at the intersection of William Clarke Drive and Stroudwater Street that ended in her arrest hours later.
Field made her first appearance in Cumberland County Court Friday afternoon.
She didn’t express much emotion before the judge, and was silent through much of the 5-minute arraignment.
Police say she was behind the wheel in a hit-and-run that killed 51-year-old Sherrie Crawford on Tuesday night.
According to the report, witnesses say Field accelerated through the stop light in an attempt to beat the signal, as Crawford was crossing the street.
Field was found by officers hours later at her home in Standish.
She told officers that she initially pulled over after the accident, saying that the light was green but she thought she hit something.
But she said she left the scene after an unidentified man told her she could.
She also said that despite seeing the news of a hit-and-run over Facebook, she did not contact authorities.
She is charged with felony leaving the scene and violation of condition of a release.
Field was released on $2,500 bail, and she is not allowed to drive as part of her release.
Friends and family members were furious with the bail, and as of now, the punishment.
