PORTLAND, Maine — A former Kennebunk High School teacher has been charged with sexually assaulting one of her underage male students.

Jill LaMontagne, 29, turned herself in to Kennebunk police Wednesday, after being indicted on 14 felony and misdemeanor charges related to a sex acts she allegedly engaged in with a student while teaching at the high school, police said.

LaMontagne was charged with six counts of gross sexual assault, six counts of sexual abuse of a minor and two counts of unlawful sexual contact, according to police. The Bangor Daily News is not naming the student because he is the alleged victim of sexual abuse.

A lawyer for LaMontagne could not be immediately reached for comment Wednesday. In June, before she was charged with a crime, her attorney denied accusations that she had sexual contact with the student, WCSH-TV reported.

Over the summer, a judge ordered the former health teacher not to have contact with the student she is alleged to have assaulted after he was hospitalized for an apparent suicide attempt, according to the Journal Tribune.

Details of LaMontagne’s alleged abuse were reportedly disclosed in the protection-order form filled out by the alleged victim’s mother.

The student said that LaMontagne performed oral sex on him and that he felt “used” by his teacher but wanted to continue the relationship, according to multiple reports of the court records.

LaMontagne is married and has children, the Portland Press Herald reported, citing court records.

She was released on $1,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in York County Superior Court on Dec. 22.
