The Belfast City Council will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday night to hold a special meeting in response to an OpEd written by Mayor Samantha Paradis in the Republican Journal.

In the OpEd, the mayor wrote that she feels councilors have preferred her to be seen but not heard and that she has encountered sexism, ageism and bigotry while on the job, among other difficulties. But several city councilors said they wanted to hold the meeting to publicly respond to Paradis’ words and defend themselves against her charges.

It is unclear what actions may be taken at tonight’s special meeting. The Bangor Daily News will live stream the meeting starting at 6 p.m.
