Christmas at Woodlawn to include tours and tree displays

ELLSWORTH — The Woodlawn Museum is hosting Christmas at Woodlawn 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 1-23 at 19 Black House Drive. Tour the Black House and see the festive decorations while hearing a special audio tour presentation on the history of Christmas at Woodlawn and in New England. Live Theatre: ‘A Christmas Carol’ musical

ELLSWORTH — The Grand is excited to present a musical adaptation of Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” at 7 p.m. Dec. 14-15 and Dec. 21-22, and 2 p.m. Dec. 16 and 22 at 165 Main Street. Verse Unleashed! Poetry Slam at Bar Harbor library

BAR HARBOR — Jesup Memorial Library will host its next Verse Unleashed! Poetry Slam at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21 at 34 Mount Desert St. Share your poetry or a piece that inspires you, whether it’s a haiku, free verse or sonnet. Unlike traditional slams, the Jesup’s poetry slam is all about community and camaraderie not competition. Bring your friends or family and share your poetry in a supportive atmosphere. Winter Solstice Hike with Great Pond Mountain Conservation Trust

BUCKSPORT — The Great Pond Mountain Conservation Trust will be holding a Winter Solstice Walk from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, at the North Gate, Bald Mountain Road. After participants meet, they will hike/ski/snowshoe about 1.3 miles into the Great Meadow. Enthusiastic hikers can head up Flying Moose Mountain from there (another 1.2 miles). Immediately afterward there is the option for food, fire and music (starting at 6 p.m.) at the Winter Solstice Celebration at the Bald Mountain Community Center which is just down the road from the North Gate.
