The Bangor boys’ basketball team is headed to the regional finals

–The top-seeded Rams held the Portland High Bulldogs to just two points in the first quarter of Tuesday’s AA North semifinal game, and used that momentum to build to a stunning 61-41 victory. Senior captain Matt Fleming led the Rams with 21 points, followed by fellow senior captain Damien Vance with 20. Bangor will now face reigning state champion Edward Little High School of Auburn in the regional final on Friday at 6:30 p.m. at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland.

Jurors aren’t reporting for duty, so lawmakers are hoping to raise their pay from $15 to $50 per day

–Last August, 21 of 96 jurors called to serve in a Somerset County murder trial didn’t report to court or ask to be excused. With the number of jurors not reporting for duty on the rise, a majority of lawmakers on the Legislature’s judiciary committee have endorsed a pay raise for jurors.

Rockland is pitching an unconventional plan to get artists to live in the city

–City officials are viewing a recent proposal by an arts foundation to create a dormitory-style living environment in an old high school building as one way to make living and working in the city more affordable, at least for artists. “It’s an experiment. Let’s see how it works. If it works well, let’s expand it so we can make sure we remain a welcoming space to artists,” City Councilor Valli Geiger said.

Maine just signed a deal for ‘seed-to-sale’ marijuana tracking system

–The state agreed on a three-year, $150,000 contract Tuesday with a Florida-based technology company that will track and trace medical and adult use marijuana products once regulations are approved for them.

–Three new restaurants are opening up in Greater Bangor. One is a second location for an already popular bakery. One is an old menu set to be revamped by a new owner. And one is an altogether brand-new eatery

A Rock and Roll Hall of Famer will perform in Bar Harbor in June

–David Crosby will make his second appearance within three years at the Criterion Theatre. Crosby, formerly of Crosby, Stills & Nash, will perform with the Skytrails Band on Sunday, June 16.

Hike here: Champlain Mountain North Ridge Trail in Acadia National Park

–Topping off at 1,058 feet above sea level, Champlain Mountain is one of the many beautiful mountains in Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island. Several trails explore its rocky slopes, including the famous Precipice Trail, the most difficult and dangerous trails in the park. This is a more gradual climb to the mountain’s top through a beautiful pitch pine forest.
