A pedestrian died Thursday evening after being hit by a car on Route 15 in Orrington.
At 5:38 p.m. Thursday, the Penobscot Regional Communication Center received a 911 call reporting the incident. When deputies arrived at the scene, the pedestrian had already died, according to Chief Deputy William R. Birch of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.

Route 15, also known as River Road, is closed between Center Drive and Swett’s Pond Road as police investigate the crash, according to News Center Maine.
The road will be closed until the investigators are done. Drivers should seek alternative routes.
The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office is reconstructing and mapping the scene. No additional information is available at this time, Birch said.
