The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate an alleged domestic disturbance at an apartment on Cedar Brook Drive in Hermon. As of 12:34 p.m. Monday, no one had been charged with a crime.
The incident initially was reported as a standoff due to the large police presence there.
Lt. Jim Ellis said the special-response team also was dispatched because of the nature of the initial 911 call.
“This was reported as a crime of violence,” Ellis said.

Police were called about 7 a.m. Monday but were unable to contact the people in the apartment, he said.
About the time the team arrived and set up, two men came out of the apartment and were taken into custody for questioning without incident.
No one else was inside the apartment, he said.
Police have not been able to locate or contact the person who made the 911 call and reported the domestic disturbance, according to Ellis.
Concern about how the situation might escalate could have been informed by a fatal standoff last week in Penobscot County. On Tuesday, Maine State Police shot and killed Thomas A. Powell III, 31, of Old Town after a standoff on French Island in Old Town.
