Belfast police have closed Route 1 after a two-vehicle crash ended with a snapped utility pole and one vehicle flipped over and up against a Circle K convenience store sign on Wednesday.
Electricity to the neighborhood was knocked out by the accident as of 3:15 p.m., about two hours after the accident occurred, according to a worker at the store, 209 Northport Ave., who said she saw the immediate aftermath of the accident.

The injuries suffered by the man driving the Ford Explorer that hit the sign, and the woman driving a Subaru sedan that collided with the Ford before it flipped and hit the sign appeared to be minor, the worker said.
A Belfast police dispatcher confirmed the accident and said that police hoped to release information about it later on Wednesday.
