Five people — including three juveniles — were injured Friday night after the car they were in went off the road and rolled over several times.
Anthony Beck, 42, of Caribou was northbound on Interstate 95 when he drove into a whiteout and lost control of the car. He went off the road and rolled several times before coming to rest on the driver’s side in the trees, officials said.
Beck and the front passenger were able to get out of the vehicle, but three juveniles were trapped inside. Responding police were able to get one out, but the Jaws of Life had to be used to rescue the other two — one whose leg was pinned and another who was partially ejected and trapped in the snow under the car’s roof, officials said.
All three were not wearing seatbelts.
All occupants were taken to Houlton Regional Hospital for frostbite, hypothermia and some serious injuries.
This crash is still under investigation.
