An 11-year-old died in a two-vehicle crash on Route 1 in Edmunds Township Wednesday morning.
A 2006 Silver Buick Lucerne was southbound near the intersection of Tide Mills Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle, skidded across the roadway and was struck by an oncoming 2010 Blue Toyota Prius, according to Shannon Moss, spokesperson for the Maine State Police.
The 11-year-old was in the back seat of the Prius and suffered critical injuries in the crash. The child died at the scene, Moss said.
The drivers of both vehicles were taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
Officials are not releasing the names of the child or the drivers until the crash report is completed.
