A COVID-19 outbreak has been reported within the Belfast Police Department.
It’s the first time since the pandemic began nearly two years ago that the department has experienced an outbreak, City Manager Erin Herbig said Wednesday.
The five cases aren’t all believed to be connected, according to Police Chief Gerry Lincoln.
“City Staff have been diligently following both CDC and City protocols but the latest variant has made it more challenging as cases have continued to increase in Waldo County,” Herbig said.
That outbreak isn’t affecting the department’s operations, and the police station remains open 24 hours a day, Herbig said.
