The Lewiston man who was found last Friday walking downtown carrying his severed arm has been identified.

Abdiaziz Hussein, 25, was injured at A.K. Market on Park Street with what local media described as a bandsaw.

He was found on Maple Street carrying his severed arm about 9 a.m. when two arborists with the city came to his aid and applied a tourniquet. Police followed the blood trail that led them to where Hussein was injured.

He was taken to Central Maine Medical Center.

A.K. Market remains open as Lewiston police and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration investigate, according to Lewiston police Lt. Derrick St. Laurent.
