Old Town’s annual Riverfest is set to return this September after two years of cancellations.
The city announced that it has set the dates for the annual festival that usually draws thousands of people to the surrounding area in late September for fireworks, a parade, vendors and other community events. The 2022 Riverfest is scheduled to happen Friday, Sept. 23, and Saturday, Sept. 24, this year following two years in which the celebration was called off due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The city geared up to welcome the event back last September, but called it off just days before it was supposed to happen.
The last time the event was held was in 2019, just a week after a devastating fire ripped through the heart of downtown, destroying several buildings and displacing 11 people.
