An Augusta man who was struck by an SUV while crossing a street in the capital city last week has succumbed to his injuries.

John Boivin, 57, was crossing Hospital Street, near the Bread of Life Ministries, about 7 p.m. Thursday, when he was hit by a Toyota RAV4 driven by 23-year-old Mark Lawrence of Augusta, according to the Kennebec Journal.

The critically injured Boivin was taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta before being transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he died just after noon on Monday, the Kennebec Journal reported.

Lawrence is not expected to be charged, according to the newspaper.
