HIRAM – A pickup truck burst into flames Thursday morning after colliding with an oil truck on Pequawket Trail in Hiram, according to the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office.
A teenage boy from Parsonsfield was driving a pickup truck when he crossed the center line and collided with a Downeast Energy oil truck that was carrying 2,800 gallons of heating oil, deputies said.
After the collision, the oil truck went off the road and down an embankment while the pickup truck burst into flames.
The teenager was able to get out of the truck and was not hurt, but the oil truck driver — a 59-year-old Fryeburg man — suffered a leg injury.
Slippery road conditions were considered a factor in the crash and it remains under investigation.
