A New Harbor man has been charged with manslaughter following a deadly crash in Bristol that claimed a woman’s life on New Year’s Eve.

Robert G. Campbell, 39, turned himself into the Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset on March 6, according to a news release from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. He has also been charged with two counts of operating under the influence.

The charges stem from an investigation into a crash that occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2021. Karen McCubbin, 69, of Bristol was killed in the crash.

Campbell was driving his Toyota Tacoma pick-up truck southbound on Route 130 when he crossed the centerline, striking the Toyota Corolla McCubbin was driving in the northbound lane. McCubbin’s vehicle rolled over and came to a rest on its roof, according to a Jan. 1 news release from the sheriff’s office.

Campbell’s 6-year-old son sustained serious, but not life-threatening, injuries. Campbell also received minor injuries in the crash. Both were transported to the hospital following the crash.

Test results show that Campbell had a blood alcohol level more than twice the legal limit, according to the sheriff’s office.
